Public Speaking for (non) Dummies
November 17, 2007 by bmaryman
I’ve been speaking in public a lot recently and, while it isn’t usually my first choice for how to spend an evening, by the end of things I usually find it to be a rather invigorating experience.
Regardless, it is still a frightening experience and one of the worst experience is to sit in front of a projected presentation and read off of the slides. Prehaps the only thing that’s worse is to be in the audience.
I’ve had lots of practice and learned a few things by intuition along the way. However, if I had read this post from Darren Barefoot, I would have saved a lot of time. It’s a good primer on how to deliver an effective message when speaking to others–whether with an audience of 10 or 1,000.
